About
Hi…I’m Nikki and I first went “walkabout” from my home in Australia back in the 90’s. Since then I’ve lived in the UK, USA, Chile, Canada and Kenya with lots of travelling to other continents and countries in between.
In 2012 I quit my job, sold my furniture, gave up my loft and spent two years visiting and travelling with friends around the globe. Many of those adventures are detailed here. I now live in Kenya and am on another 6 month sabbatical. Here are my stories…

Inspired by yours Rob!
Fantastic blog! I love reading about your adventures.
Thanks Purvi!
Nikki,
Well done. I’ve completed all your blogs and adventures and am so excited for your experiences and love of people, culture and travel. Your blog and photos of Africa are remote and incredible, and will never be experienced by most travelers. Your writing is excellent for the record and you’ve been able to describe to a point of a reader feeling like they were also there. Well done. My question…when is your book or mag. articles coming about?
Thank you very much for enjoying the site. I’m so jealous! Cheers!

Hey Nikki, wonderful to read your stories and view the places you’ve been since we studied (read: partied) together in DC last year! I have become a devoted follower as well, although I have forbidden myself to read it on Monday mornings….not good for my health….this will be my last Monday morning ;)….

TC – you do more than alright on the travel front!!
hi,i just want 2 encourage u for ur motivation. all AGADEZ miss . i wish u back in my country.
Thanks Ibra! Hope to make it back to Agadez one day…
Hi Nikki, Great site. I was going to Agadez and the Curee Salee festival next month but had to cancel due to my daughters health issues. Hope to go next year. I was in touch with Ibraham in Agadez and you spoke highly of him and Agadez reminds me of Timbucktu. Ibriham sent me a link to your website. I went to Timbucktu six years ago traveling overland from Casablanca and it was a fascinating city and journey. I hope to persuade my girlfriend to accompany me next year but she is a bit apprehensive about traveling in that part of the world. Your travels are an inspiration. Well done!
Thanks Robert
Good to hear from you. Ibrahim mentioned to me that he had received a call about the Curee Salee. I also hope to make it there one year. Unfortunately I haven’t made it to Timbucktu yet and it has obviously changed a little now but a guy I met who went to both said they were similar…but Agadeaz was even less visited. I hope my website inspires your girlfriend to travel with you! Love to hear you it goes if it make it next year. Best Nikki
Enjoy the journey which for you goes without saying 😄😄😄😁
Of course!!!! :-))
